Resize Partition

Partition Resize

  • Data loss may appear frequently when users resize partition. Although users know partition resizing is just to resize partition capacity and move partition location, it is difficult to realize these operations in real life. Data is always easy to be lost when users resize partition capacity. One of the key factors leading to data loss when users use partition magic to resize partition is power failure. When users resize partition, sudden power outage results in unfinished operations and subsequently leads to data loss. More seriously, the whole partition may be lost. So, how to resize partition without losing data? We can use partition magic, but we must pay much attention to selecting partition magic, because much of them does not offer users data protection. Without this function, data may be lost, too. If users use MiniTool Partition Wizard which has the function of data protection when power is off, they can avoid data loss. Besides, this partition magic uses "Using Enhanced Data Protecting Mode" which reduces operations to data with maximum, which can guarantee data safety absolutely. Now, let’s see how to accomplish partition resizing with MiniTool Partition Wizard, a partition magic, without data loss.

Use MiniTool Partition Wizard to resize partition without bringing data damage.
At first, we download an edition which is free for individual and home users from its official website, and then install it on the computers. Running it, we can see the following interface:

This is the main interface of MiniTool Partition Wizard. In this interface, we can see partition mode is very unreasonable in "DISK 1". Here, the whole hard disk with 298GB is divided into 4 partitions, one main partition and 3 logical partitions. Among logical partitions, F: partition is too large, so we are to resize F: partition next by dividing it into 2 partitions. Select this partition and click "Move/Resize Partition" function button in "Operation" volume to resize F: partition.

Next, we enter function interface of "Move/Resize Partition". On the top of the interface, there is a default data protection mode which protects data from being damaged when we resize partition. Next, we can see a partition handle in "Size and Location" zone. We can resize the partition by changing the length of partition handle. We can also move partition location in the disk by dragging the partition handle. The following picture is the partition which has been successfully set.

From the interface, we can see the capacity of F: partition has been changed to 70 GB, and partition location has also changed. We click "OK" to enter the next operation.

In this interface, we can see an unallocated partition appears. Select it and the click "Create Partition" function button in "Operation" volume in the left to create a partition. After finishing a series of settings, we go back to the main interface like the following interface:

From this interface, we can see the original F: partition has been divided into H: partition and F: partition. At the same time, there appear two pending operations at the left bottom which are our pending operations. Next, we click "Apply" to perform all operations after assuring everything is ok.

From the above operations, we can see resizing partition with this partition magic is safe to data. It not only offers users data protection mode but also specific operating prompts. A person who is unable to perform partition management can finish partition resizing alone according to prompts. The above functions are just a few functions of MiniTool Partition Wizard. It can also offers users the functions of recovering partitions, hiding partitions, and notably wiping data which can delete date forever. Even a data recovery professional can not recover these wiped data. This function is suit for deleting some important files after being used to avoid being embezzled by others.
